Year I: Building Capacity

The content for Year I focuses on building the critical pedagogical capacity focusing on H.E.A.T., Teach 2.0 methodologies, and the existing digital assets to promote the change process aligned with 21st Century Skills.

 

Creating Digital-Age instructional capacity through online and blended courses, onsite interventions, and peer mentoring opportunities provides a solid foundation for each LoTi Digital-Age School. Year I addresses the pivotal roles and responsibilities of all key stakeholders by strategically introducing structured H.E.A.T. walkthroughs, beginning onsite and online professional development, and developing targeted goals and objectives for instructional improvement.

 

At the conclusion of Year I, a LoTi Digital-Age School has:

  • Developed campus expectations aligned with Teach 2.0 methodologies and H.E.A.T.
  • Established staff routines for continuous improvement through targeted professional development.
  • Created a three-year Next Steps Action Plan aligned with targeted campus academic goals.
  • Implemented a structured sequence for LoTi, CIP, and academic progress data collection.

 

Building Capacity Action Plan

 

Phase 1: Assess Current Conditions on Campus

  • Develop professional development needs using the LoTi Digital-Age Survey
  • Conduct item analysis of standardized test score data
  • Collect Year I LoTi/CIP pre-assessment data
  • Select target instructional cohort of staff members

 

Phase 2: Develop Plan of Action

  • Choose instructional outcomes aligned to LoTi, CIP, and student growth targets
  • Add Year I LoTi Intervention dates to school calendar
  • Finalize Next Steps Action Plan

 

Phase 3: Implement Cornerstones of Change

 

Phase 4: Develop Routines for Sustainability

  • Introduce the 5 C’s of Instructional Leadership
  • Initiate the Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. process
  • Collect Year I LoTi/CIP post-assessment data
  • Prepare annual summative report
