The Levels of Teaching Innovation (LoTi) program is a research-based implementation model designed to promote H.E.A.T. in student learning according to the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S) and 21st Century Skills. LoTi represents Teacher Input (e.g., instructional delivery, Teach 2.0 methodologies); H.E.A.T. indicates Student Output (e.g., level of student cognition,
student engagement).
LoTi Digital-Age Schools focus on the delicate balance between instruction, assessment, and the effective use of the available digital tools and resources to increase the amount of H.E.A.T. (i.e., Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authentic connections, Technology use) and improve student academic progress over a three-year period. The goal is achieving sustainable independence involving high-quality and differentiated digital-age teaching (e.g.,Teach 2.0). LoTi Digital-Age Schools represent learning communities that have made a commitment to systemic changes in the way digital assets are used to support and expand student learning experiences in the classroom based on the LoTi Framework.
Research shows
that LoTi Digital-Age Schools improve student academic progress while building effective and efficient digital-age learning communities. LoTi Digital-Age Schools also seek to align district instructional initiatives (e.g., Daggett’s Rigor and Relevance, Marzano’s Research-based Best Practices, Webb’s Depth of Knowledge) into one cohesive program to increase the amount of student H.E.A.T. – Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authentic connections, and high quality Technology use in the learning process.
