Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T.

LoTi Classroom Teacher Series Improving Instruction and Student Achievement through Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T.
Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. focuses on the process of conducting targeted and consistent walkthroughs to promote the continuous improvement of staff. H.E.A.T. is an acronym representing Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authenticity, and Technology use. Training administrators and other instructional leaders to complete walkthroughs based on H.E.A.T. gives everyone a consistent set of “look-fors” and common vocabulary for improving instruction, elevating the Level of Teaching Innovation (LoTi) in the classroom, and increasing student achievement.
LoTi Classroom Teacher SeriesClassroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. provide:
  • An online tool called the LoTi Observer that automatically calculates a teacherʼs LoTi Level based on an administratorʼs recorded walkthrough observations using an iPod Touch.
  • Classroom look-fors geared toward researched-based best practices.
  • A powerful system for mobile data collection and analysis of LoTi-related behaviors in the classroom.
  • Easy-to-implement process for transforming classroom learning from passive, compliant student involvement to authentic student engagement.
Classroom Walkthroughs with H.E.A.T. can be customized to reflect specific district initiatives (e.g., Daggett’s Rigor & Relevance, Marzano’s Research-based Best Practices, Wiggins and McTighe’s Understanding by Design, Big 6 Research Model) and any other classroom look-fors.
